The effects of the Alberta government’s 2013 budget cuts to education are becoming more apparent as school boards release their budgets for the 2013/14 school year. In May, Environics conducted a survey on education spending for the Alberta Teachers’ Association. The ATA then released an infographic based on some of the survey’s findings. The infographic was posted on social media channels to draw attention to how 11,000 new students and $14.5 million less in funding will adversely affect classrooms.
Information on how school board budgets are affected by the cuts is being gathered on the ATA’s School Board Budget Tracker, which can be accessed by clicking on the “Cuts to Education Hurt Our Kids” graphic at www.teachers.ab.ca.
